Europa

Oberbaum

Tonight, we kick of the Europa tour here in Berlin. KlezFactor is rocking B-flat Jazz Club (Rosenthaler Str. 13 in Berlin Mitte) at 9pm.

You may have noticed that I wrote in the last post that it was a little bit scary to kick off this tour. When you’re premiering so much music, there’s always the chance that the performance won’t live up to the vision of the piece. With a project like Europa, there’s a lot of new music to get through which only increases the chances of a clunker here and there. Fortunately, I’ve been able to field test a lot of the new music for the upcoming album.

Two tunes were already in the band’s repertoire the last time we were playing in Berlin. I composed another two for a trio concert I performed in New York at the City Winery back in the summer of 2013. Another song, Cosmo Alex, got field tested with the outstanding ensemble that Lenka Lichtenberg had assembled last month in the Czech Republic. Finally, I’ve revived a few tunes from my extensive library of half-finished songs that I’ve collected over the years. It’s an interest conglomeration of tunes that will make up the new KlezFactor album!

We look forward to seeing you in Berlin, Dresden or Prague. Come and say hi and enjoy the music!

Are you in central Europe? Looking to preview the music coming up on KlezFactor: Europa? Catch them live! July 28 at B-flat in Berlin, July 29 at Blue Note in Dresden and July 31 at Jazzdock in Prague!
