It’s been a busy summer for me personally. I’ve been performing at the usual weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and private parties but there have also been some other interesting projects that I’ve been involved with including Ensemble Topaz and Rhythm of the Nation, with which I performed at the Toronto Waterfront Festival this Canada Day weekend. But the one thing that I didn’t do this summer was KlezFactor, but don’t worry, we’re back with a vengeance this fall!
The vengeance is three (THREE!) shows within one week! Yes, that’s the most concentrated amount of KlezFactor you’re ever going to get in one city! In fact, the only time we’ve ever played that many shows in such a short period of time is when we’ve gone on tour! So get it while it’s hot!
We start at the Tranzac Club in Toronto, playing on Wednesday, September 27 at 7:30pm for two sets. The Tranzac is like a home to many musicians in Toronto and it’s a place where creative music is supported more than just about anywhere else in the city. With a nice selection of beers on tap, all you have to do is come on down to the venerable venue on Brunswick St., just south of Bloor in a great, central location. Admission is for everyone and it’s “Pay-What-You-Can” as we pass around the hat. We do appreciate generous donations to the band, of course.
On Sunday, October 1, KlezFactor is pleased to be a part of something brand new! We’ll be part of the inaugural International Musical Arts Festival held by IMEC. We’ll be performing a short set at the Vaughan City Playhouse (Bathurst and Atkinson, just south of Highway 7). Tickets for the event featuring some of Toronto’s best performing groups are $30-$50 but if you use the code “artists” you can get a 50% discount! Come on out and vote for us in the performance competition! Start time is 6:45pm and it promises to be an eclectic evening of music and dance! If we are among the winners, we’ll give an encore performance on Tuesday, October 3 at the Isabel Bader Theatre at the University of Toronto!
Our third performance is on another Wednesday. We’ll be performing at Hope United Church at 2550 Danforth Ave. in Toronto’s east end. This is a free, lunch-hour concert beginning at 12:15pm and we’ll show how to rock the church!
For these shows, KlezFactor will consist of:
Mike Anklewicz – saxophone/clarinet
Jarek Dabrowski – guitar
Paul Georgiou – bass
Georgia Hathaway – violin
Alex Lank – drums
