Traditional Klezmer

If you’re looking for traditional klezmer, clarinetist Mike Anklewicz has the Mike Anklewicz Klezmer Trio for concerts and functions. Clarinetist Mike Anklewicz performs with some of the top musicians in his ensemble that also features accordion and bass. Anklewicz has performed klezmer in Toronto, Montreal, New York, Amsterdam and Berlin.

The Mike Anklewicz Trio will be recording their first CD in February of 2016 with Montreal-based accordionist Yoni Kaston and bassist Joel Kerr. The trio’s album will feature music from the Beregovski collection as well as other klezmer standards! For Anklewicz, this is the culmination of over 20 years of listening, performing and research, putting it together into a debut CD.

With a PhD in Ethnomusicology from York University where he studied klezmer and its fusion with other musics, Mike Anklewicz is also available for lectures at your synagogue or other educational event. He has spoken at synagogues and universities in Canada and Germany and has just concluded a four-week course at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (where he is also the saxophone instructor).

Anklewicz has studied klezmer with the finest musicians in the klezmer world and has taught at KlezKanada and York University as well as in private sessions for individuals and groups.
