Summer of Music and Dance is Approaching

The Hague

The Hague

Time has flown and our departure is coming quickly! Paromita and I are rapidly running out of time before we get on a plane on Wednesday night to cross the ocean and begin our travels.

Join us here (www.klezfactor.com) for updates and travelogs as we create music and dance and perform over the next two months. We’ve been working hard preparing for our summer commitments and they include workshops, concerts, intensive study, conferences and recordings! We’re going to say hello and post videos from wherever we land on this trip and we’ll also be posting plenty of multimedia content of our performances!

The first leg of the trip is in Europe. We fly to Amsterdam and then head to The Hague (Den Haag) where Paromita is doing a residency at CLOUD at Danslab. If you’re in the “neighbourhood,” you can come by on June 19 to participate in her workshop, “The Nine Moods – Natyashastra.” Then, on June 21, she’ll be performing “Vignettes of Sringaar,” a work that has been gestating for many years. Paromita will be working on this material over the course of her residency and I’ll be getting in on the fun with some live (semi-)improvised music on the saxophone.

Following our time in The Hague, we’ll head back to Amsterdam and I’ll start preparing for my concert with the Mike Anklewicz Klezmer Trio (featuring Gregor Schaefer on bass and Erica Roozendaal on accordion) at the Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam on June 25.

It’s going to be a great week in the Netherlands and there’s more excitement after that, so stay tuned for details!
