Back in Toronto, Europa is coming along and things have reached a cooling off phase. It’s always good to get away from the sounds of the album a bit to clear your ears and reassess what’s been recorded a little more objectively. In this case the next phase of recording will come in the next few weeks as we begin to add some layers to the sound of the basic band.
The first layers to go in will be the percussion. Paul Georgiou will be adding some riq and darabuka (Middle-East percussion instruments) and Jarek Dabrowski, our guitarist in Toronto, will be assisting in engineering and also adding some additional guitar tracks to help thicken up the sound.
While I’ve been “cooling off,” though, I’ve been able to do some work on the the design for the album and I think I’ve gotten something I like for our cover. The photo is one that I took in 2010 in Krakow, Poland of the High Synagogue.
